Sweet - I always liked the look of those. I especially like the
"where's the motor" aspect of the 125. Nice to see somebody is still
buying bikes these days. Even better if you actually ride them
(unlike that OTHER guy).

Well, dig 'em while you can, the only way(s) to keep them looking nice
is/are:
1) keep the bike in the garage
2) never ride it in rocks
3) don't change tires
4) if you can't comply with #3, get some plastic tire irons
5) keep a black Sharpie handy
Personally, I wish KTM had stayed with the boring aluminum colored
aluminum.

Our KX 100 has black rims too. Riding motocross I don't have the luxury of "not
changing tires" so what I do is take an old milk gallon and cut strips of that
nice slippery plastic of about 1 1/2" by 4" and fold them over the ends of the
irons. If you use a bit of WD40 on the tire, the plastic will stay on the iron
as you slide it around the rim too... I just carry a bunch of those strips in
with my tire irons.
Rowdy Mouse Racing, Stimilon Saturday, wee, race season, yeah... here we go;)

Our aforementioned wheelsaver uses this exact same concept. 3 pieces
of rim-shaped soft plastic that go over the edge where the tire irons
go, all connected in the middle by 3 pieces of thin rope.
They work great on the streetbikes but there's no way in hell Eric's
going to whip `em out every time he changes one of my dirt tires. I
can see him rolling his eyes as I type.

No can do.

Riiiight...

Not an option.

How about a nice set of 25-year-old original Honda wheel savers?
> 5) keep a black Sharpie handy
That's the best thing to do, I'm sure <G> It certainly worked on some
scratches on my pipe. No worries, though, as I'm sure it'll be
destroyed by this time Sunday.
I have no illusions whatsoever of keeping them looking nice for any
length of time.

Yeah, I thought the same thing when Husky put out the `09's with black
wheels. They look nice for a few minutes then look like crap forever.
