Apparently, Lawrence has screwed up again spending Friday night in
jail (for a fight?), getting his $25K fine reinstated, getting his
Pro license yanked for the year and being released by Boost Mobile
Yamaha.

Career over.

If anybody had asked me a couple years ago who would get a
lites title first - Alessi or Lawrence - no honking way would it
have been Lawrence. But he did it. Hiring Ryno really seemed to
help but dropping Ryno (or getting dropped, whichever story you
believe) hasn't seemed to work, in spite of the cost savings
($100k per year).

Maybe. Lots of talent there but being a jerk isn't going
over so good.

Second the maybe.

In racing, and most pro sports, the owners are quick to forget if you
can beat the other guy.

Billy Martin comes to mind as the supreme jerk who could always find a
job in baseball.

Yeah, but none other than MX are trying as hard to present a
squeaky, clean image these days. He was on probation for, what, a
couple of weeks before he screwed up again? Other than finding
another team to hire him, he's got to convince the AMA that he's a
really nice guy.

I see a short, but uneventful career in FMX on his horizon.

Other than getting canned by Steinbrenner, was he ever tossed out
of baseball by MLB? (no idea, I don't follow it that close).
How's Pete Rose's reinstatement coming along?

A good example of getting 2nd/3rd chances is Anthony Gobert.
Roadracing is trying to be just as squeaky as NASCAR and
AMA MX. But he went through three rides and then a couple
FIM roadracing rides and then a couple Australia roadracing
rides, flunking drug tests the whole way, before finally coming
to the end of the line. People will take a chance if there's any
way to get JLaw a license.

Go fast. Take chances.
