My local Harley repair shop owner tried to generate
some extra cash flow by bringing in a dozen or so
Chinese 4-wheel ATV's of various sizes.
They came as kits, which he had his mechanic
assemble. The result was predictable.
Soon the worthy craftsman was not in a good mood.
Parts tended to (almost) fit together; holes
were drilled approximately in the right places;
Mounting screws were usually long enough,
and nothing broke (within the 1st 5 mins).
The owner wisely offered only a very limited
warranty (something like 24 hours).
Sure enough, a customer came back 48 hours
later with a complaint. And then another.
In the end he more or less ended up breaking
even (not counting the mechanic's assembly
time as well as who knows how much loss of
customer goodwill, vital for any business).
By now I think if you GAVE him a Chinese
bike or ATV it would end up as small pieces
in the dumpster after an appointment with
the angle grinder.

AW, YOUR HIPPIE MECHANIC HASN'T SEEN ONE OF THE FINE, PERFECTLY
ENGINEERED CHINESE BIKES OLE SCRAPE SELLS TO ALL HIS BUDDIES ON RMD.
NO FINER PIECE OF EQUIPMENT EXISTS IN THE BIKE WORLD!
WHAT DOES A HARLEY DAVIDSON GUY KNOW ABOUT GOOD BIKES ANYWAY? THOSE
UNSHAVEN HIPPIE FREAKS AND HELLS ANGELS TYPES RIDE THOSE DUMBASS
LOOKIN'' HOGS AROUND LIKE THEY'RE REAL CYCLISTS TRYIN' TO IMPRESS
EVERYONE.
IF THAT'S WHAT THEY REALLY WANT TO DO, THEY SHOULD BUY ONE OF MY
LATEST MODELS, THE BANG-THE-BUNG-HOLE 400XL, THE HOTTEST NEW BIKE ON
THE MARKET AND STRAIGHT FROM GOOD OLE CHINA.
