Here in the high desert we never suffer for lack of places to ride but
my riding buddie proposed a ride in Dyer, Nevada which is just on the
other side of the White mountains from us. Altogether the drive was
about an hour and a half long which was tolerable. Just outside of
Dyer is a dirt road that takes one to a campsite area with a decent
forest service outhouse and lots of room to park motorhomes. The jewel
was a decent sized hot springs tub with cement steps and plenty of
warm water for the after ride. The desert riding was incredable and
one could go as far as one dared. After traveling for a while my buddy
with his GPS said that Utah was just over the next rise. We saw about
a half dozen wild Mustangs crossing the road on the way home. That and
a couple of coyotes and our day was over. OF

I love riding in Nevada! The hot springs are fast becoming a necessity
for me. If there isn't a swimming hole or a hot springs at the end of
the trail, well, I don't wanna ride it! Eric and I sat in a hot
springs in the Monitor Valley and watched a herd of wild horses
grazing in the still-green valley (it was Thanksgiving) and thought to
ourselves, "we've found heaven, and this is it!"
Did you take any photos?
You're one lucky SOB to be living in Bishop...
