Bikers going too slow. I was stuck behind bikes TWICE in one day this
past weekend - each time two bikes, with one ridden by a woman, that
were driving 5-10MPH below the speed limit on secondary (45 - 50MPH
limit) roads.  Not only going slow, but also not holding a consistent
speed.  I ended up tailgating - couldn't help it, plus shortly had a
pile of cars stacked up behind me.  I try to hold back when I'm behind
a bike, but when I'm already going 5 MPH under, and they drop another
5MPH... there I am.

I hate folks that drive under the speed limit as it is, but for a bike
to do it?  That's downright stupid.  All I could think of was that's a
great way to get yourself killed.  Ride slow and you WILL get
tailgated.  Throw in something unexpected, and you're run over.

Got any buddies on road bikes that like to ride with their
chickadees?  See that that thing on the right side of the bars?  Twist
the goddamn thing.  If you aren't comfortable riding at least the
speed limit, get the hell off of the road.

Plus, you know, the whole mirror thing.  If you're not comfortable at 10
under, get out of the way of those that you're pissing off behind you.

Personally, I don't want to get rear-ended by the bimboette texting her
other bimboette peeps.

On a related but side tack:

Heading out to pick up the kid from soccer practice last Monday.
Pulled out of the shop behind a Hyundai hybrid (didn't know there
was such a thing) heading east at 35mph.  There is a flashing yellow
light at the first intersection, second intersection is barely 100
yards beyond and the light is red.

I snicked the Sub out of gear to coast up to the red.  The Hyundai
driver never touched the brakes.  A beater Cavalier heading north
at about 35 mph on the intersecting street hit the Hyundai square in
the passenger door, lifting it up over my head and pushing it sideways
into a stopped car (waiting for the light) heading west.  The Hyundai
landed on the east bound car's hood, slid off and came to rest against
a light pole on the northeast corner of the intersection.  The Cavalier
ended up against the stopped car's driver door.

It was like watching one of the TV things my son loves to watch -
"World's worst drivers" or something.  Slo-mo even.

By the time I got off the phone with 911 the bimbo driving the
Hyundai was out of the car, spinning in circles screaming "Oh
my God ohmygod ohmygod".  The Cavalier driver had his belt on
but no air bag.  Bloody face but not too hurt as he was yelling
at the bimbo.  The stopped car nobody was moving, I think they
were stunned.

Bimbo had been texting it turns out.

Go fast. Take chances.

people with new to them cars or bruised cars make me nervous...

and yet another reason I gave up street riding...
too many folks can't deal with responsibility
of driving, they have been coddled all their life
and just don't realize the penalty for failure.

hmm maybe I need a deuce and a half commuter
