I've got two.

 - A six year old German Shepherd, aka einstein in four legs, never
seen a dog so smart.

 -  a two year old Rhodesian Ridgeback, aka indestructible, never seen
a dog so resilient...

both females, I like females better than I like males. ;)

I believe I posted about the Rhodesian a while ago, I thought she was
dying. Well, during my south and central america trip, my wife
reported that she laid and wasn't standing anymore. First thing I did
when I arrived was arrange a veterinary to sacrifice her. She was
covered in bleeding wounds... :( I had tried every thing on earth,
different veterinaries prescribed all the medicines there was on the
vet pharmacy and nothing helped, she got progressively worse. Well,
this guy said she would never kill a dog that could be cured (!) and
prescribed a very expensive pill. Lo and behold, the wounds dried up
and she is active again and fur is growing back. I am sure not every
dog would resist this. I am truly amazed, but I wouldn't have another
of this breed - too dumb and stubborn for my taste.

Wow! Good news. What was the disease? And the cure?

Some kind of bacterial infection. The vet knew just by looking at the
dog. Some guys are born to it. He said if I really wanted, he could do
a blood test and give me the name of the critter, but he also said it
didn't really matter, as his prescription would solve the problem,
guaranteed...

The cure was this chem: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enrofloxacin  +
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dexamethason

Amazingly, other vets had prescribed different antibiotics and anti-
inflamatories , but none worked. This did. I have to buy another
10pill box today of each, about 35 + 6USD. I think it worth it.

Amazing, better living through chemistry, although I think HellSickle
had other things in mind when he says that...

Our dog is on a low maintenance dose of cephalexin and prednisone. If he
goes off the meds his skin allergy goes out of control, non-stop itching
and sores...might be allergic to me, who knows :)
