Took the kids aforementioned bike out today for a little ride through
the local hills and curves and WOW!
This is as close as one will ever get to riding a 2 wheeled
locomotive.
The bottom end torque is phenomenal and the overall handling
practically flawless.
Throttle _CONTROL_ is not an option when riding this bike, it is SOP!
Trying to "putt" in and out of the sub-division on the Hypermotard was
the most difficult part of my ride. My complete focus was required to
keep the bike from loping and surging as I tried to remain smooth at
sub-twenty mph. The bike is much more comfortable and stable with
another 100 added to that mark.
Upon reflection, the whole experience reminded me of my barrel racing
days. A thorough bred horse is no fun outside of the field of
competition. But when that gate swings shut upon entering the arena,
and you make those short runs back and forth before breaking the beam
on the timing system, you can feel that horse anticipating the moment
that is about to be. That is the Ducati Hypermotard. An uncannily
interactive experience between man and beast, both in anticipation of
the moment about to be. A truly remarkable mount.

Thanks for that, Mike!
I enjoyed the prose. Now I want to ride the bike.

Bev,
Many thanks for that, also. I woke up at three in the morning (went
to bed at 10 pm, still trying to get Monday's "7 hours of working
trail in the rain and five hours of driving" out of my system), saw
that they were replaying the second "lites" moto from Glen Helen, and
decided to watch for a bit and check yesterday's new messages.
Hunter S. Thompson's writing goes down very well in the middle of
the night, with good racing (and David Bailey's most excellent race
announcing) for dessert.
Hell! It may not be any use trying to get back to sleep, now.

The best to you, Bev!
