Got a similar one (cheaper than that) on a local chinese crap store.

I have a friend who own a rechargeable, much more power, but anyway,
this is powered by two D batteries (the big ones) and it literally fry
the mosquito with a loud ZAP spark. :) I zapped myself twice, so,
don't let kids anywhere near it, the shock is strong, but it's much
more effective and safe than spreading poison around or bathing in
insect repellent.

I really liked this review: "[...] Swatting flies has always been a mildly
satisfying chore, but now, every kill is a celebration. There's the
satisfying `Snap' that announces a solid strike, the sparkling bug trapped
in the metal webbing of the racket as you hold the button down, like a
Japanese lamp with a short. Finally, the fly detonates and breaks the
circuit, or smoke starts rising and stings your nostrils with its acrid
fumes. The Twins have learned to bounce the fly on the webbing like a bit
of water on a hot greasy skillet. Hours of entertainment have been realized
through this ingenious device. The only real problem now is, we've run out
of flies. [...]". This guy really has a sense of humour. But he should try
a chinese dirtbike if he's getting bored. *LOL*

Kewl! I only knew the stationary devices so far. Those with the blue neon
lamp.

Yeah - but what do you do with giant cockroaches? I saw a few of them in
Australia. Really disgusting. And these beasts are bloody fast, some of
them can even FLY!

In that case, you might consider
http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/272/90/ . "[...] Have you ever
experienced a *really* powerful laser? And when I mean powerful -- I mean
able to light matches, pop balloons, and make just about anything smoke?
[...]" definitely sounds promising!

Mosquito bites itch. You gotta set priorities. ;-)

Cheers,
Volker

I think that Mr. Deeney had one of those the last time I saw him in
Idaho. (2006).  They are fun.

When I lived out in the woods, we had a bug zapper (larger version)
hanging under the "watch light" in the front yard.
Between watching the bugs get zapped and watching the bats going after
the bugs drawn to the light, it was a good time for conversation and
drinks.
Cheap entertainment on a balmy night.
