You and thousands of other Americans took part in the President's
American Great Outdoors Initiative and VOTED for IDEAS about your
public lands. The President promised he would take the Top Voted Ideas
and act on them. Perhaps the President did not expect people who enjoy
Motorized and Mountain Bike recreation to speak up, but there is no
doubt he has totally ignored us.
Half of the Top 40 Ideas are about wanting More Motorized and Mountain
Bike Trails, as well as other Multiple Use Ideas. Your votes made me
the Top Innovator Nationwide by a huge margin of almost two to one.
The President's America Great Outdoors 50 State Report did not include
one single Motorized trail, Mountain Bike trail or Multiple Use
Project even though a large part of the public VOTED for them.
At Save The Trails we had a feeling The President's America Great
Outdoors Initiative was intended to justify more restrictions and more
closures.
We made sure the public was engaged and thousands of you VOTED for
multiple use trails which has allowed us to document the need for more
motorized and mechanized trails. We need thousands of you to take
action now to hold their feet to the fire and demand what we VOTED
for.
Each person reading this needs to Take Two Minutes to tell agency
staff we will not be ignored.

Some say there is no point in taking action, but THAT IS DEAD WRONG
AND EXACTLY WHAT THE CLOSURE FOLKS ARE HOPING FOR.
We can make a difference and most certainly IF WE ARE SILENT WE WILL
LOSE.

I'm almost embarrassed to say when I read this it still caught me a
little bit surprised...
Yeah, I've already sent my replies.

Clearly his major contributors don't think the motorized trail-using
public can swing enough votes/$ to matter, unlike the sheep in the
'environmental' movement.

At some point we develop calluses.

Likewise. As long as pounding sand is free, I'll do it.

You know - none of this stuff applies to any of us east-coasters,
since there isn't any public land out here, but...I still find it hard
to believe that anyone pays attention to whatever rules or laws that
get passed regarding access to public land. I'd ride wherever I felt
like if I lived out there. Who's going to catch you? There is a
zillion acres to cover, none of the hippies can get more than a few
miles in, and in the odd chance that somebody happens upon you while
you're out there, good luck catching up .
I do the same thing now, but it's all private land. I don't register
my bikes either. Fuck'em.

Not entirely true but close enough.

I said something along these lines once upon a time and a few days
later when I arrived out west ready to ride, was read the riot act by
my riding buddies. Not for thinking it or doing it, for saying it in
a public forum just before going to practice it.
Just so you know.
Go fast. Take chances.
