And I thought mine was bad. WTF, Craig?

Countershaft seal was leaking.
No really, Honda decided it was a good idea to make a countershaft
seal a case splitting job. It's as good a time as any to go through
everything and make sure it's good, so that's what I'm doing.
My KDX got the same treatment since Kawasaki thought crank seals
should require a case split...

Interesting. Does the 350 RFVC is like that in the US models? Not long
ago, I splitted cases on one of these 350s and after remounting
everything I noticed that seal was not good, so I my friend (bike
owner) just bought one, we installed with the engine on the bike, was
the last part installed before putting in new oil. The seal went
smooth with no leaks so far...
I did a case splitt on a 250 RFVC, but I don't remember we ever
replaced the seal. The older XL250 with horizontal case split needed
the case disassembled to change the countersprocket shaft seal, but I
am not sure about newer. Are yours the older model?

I thought Suzuki RM was the same and only after splitting I discovered
that I could replace it without splitting... :-) well, at least I
inspected the trans and cleaned everything real good.

I've never worked on a 350 RFVC motor, so I can't say. I guess we
haven't seen those in anything since the 80's, unless there's an ATV
application.

1994. The seal has a lip that requires installation from the back
side. I've heard of people cutting the lip off and using epoxy to keep
the replacement seal in, but that's not something I really wanted to
do. I think I remember reading that the redisigned 1996+ motor can be
done without splitting the cases.

Ouch!
