Howdy,

So the boy and I went out to Big Game Raceway today for a promised
flat  track on our new YZ's - my 450 and his 250. As it turned out,
in spite of 1.7 inches of rain last Wednesday and temps in the 50's
all week, we got in a race.

The 1st and 2nd turns ended up being really good, though the exit
had a soft spot high on the track.  Three and four where a mess with
ruts, soft spots, and inconsistency from lap to lap.

We didn't care.

This 450 thing is a freakin rocket ship.  Lucky for me it slows down
and slides into a turn much like the CRF250 the boy and I have
been sharing up to now.  Otherwise I would have screwed up the
entry to every corner the way I screwed up the exit.

On the exit you roll on the throttle, trying to keep the beast in
line, until you're up on the middle of the tire.  By then you've
rolled the throttle to the stop and this bike just goes

UUUJNNNNNGGGGGGG

and you're needing to get stopped for the next corner.  Squeeze
the brake, lean the bike, stay on top of it, get it turned (watch
for the ruts and soft spots) and start to roll it on again.

Zoom
You're trying to get stopped again.

I was one happy camper.  This thing is fast.  Second in+40.

The boy needs some start line help - stalled it in the final and
nearly so in the heat - but still has way better form than me.
Don't tell him I said that.  As his neurons connect, he'll be
trash talking me shortly. Don't need to give him any extra
motivation.

The local flat track pic guy was there - will point to any pics
he posts.  We're off to vacation in the morning so may be
delayed.

Go fast. Take chances

Kick-ass!!
Glad the bikes are working for you guys, and that you got a chance to
play before the white stuff takes over.
Have fun on vacation.
