Matia Ceccato from Alpinestars S.p.a. Product Support called me on friday.
He stated that most of the shoemakers don't have the equipment to mount
replacement soles as prescribed since the process requires a special glue,
heat and pressure. Tech 8s can be re-soled quite a number of times. He
recommended sending them to Alpinestars Italia via their Munich distributor
Motorrad Spaetzuender for a set of completely new soles. This will cost
about 40EUR plus P&P and I'll have the boots back in about 2 weeks.

I guess, I'll give this a try and report how they'll hold up.
