The most fun I had, and I can still clearly remember this, was the
first time a friend took me to Metcalf in San Jose. I was living on
my own and I didn't own a dirt bike and I'd never ridden off road
before. I had several years of street riding, but no dirt bike
experience. He had a Yamaha 125 2 stroke (late 70's MX bike) and I
clearly remember going on the trails by myself and going up and down
the hills. I couldn't believe some of the things I saw guys doing
that I now take for granted. It was incredible.

I haven't been in too many of those off road because we tend to spread
out while trail riding. I do remember one time where my buddy and I
were on a fire road and somehow we got to the point where we both knew
we were pushing it and trying to get in front of each other but with
the two-way traffic it's kind of dangerous. On the MX track, I've
tried to keep up with some guys but it's pretty pointless for me...

I get an adrenaline rush and a feeling of victory when I feel I've
navigated it to the level that I want. It's a psuedo control feeling
kind of thing that's hard to describe, and I realize I don't really
have control, jsut the feeling of it.

Hope this helps...

Most fun I've ever had was just riding with friends or with my son. A
good ride of about one hundred miles sets me up perfectly for a
folding chair, dinner and a nice campfire. A shower and warm bed to
follow and I am complete. You would have to be there to uderstand.
Some of my favorite rides were in the Sierra Nevada mountains in
California. The dirt is loamy as the trail winds around huge pine
trees and super green ferns. The aroma in the air is of the forest and
has a hint of vanilla from the trees. Lastly a ride down the face of a
canyon to a water crossing then up the other side to a jeep trail
going back to camp. Lots of times a new rider will join us for a trip
like this and it changes his entire outlook on life. OF
