Now that I've seen the pic... ignore the previous question... :)

In AHRMA speak - post-vintage.

Go fast. Take chances.

That Husky is looking a lot like the bike
my friend Mark Kessler brought and rode
for the 1998 ISF gathering. Except yours
has a LOT more tred on the rear tire.
It is at the bottom of this story:

He is in NY, but, might want to adopt a new baby.

If they ever start the Post Post Vintage (Evolution?) in AHRMA Cross
Country, I have all of a very fresh '87 WR430 that will be "phoenixed"
out of my shed. It's got a special pipe, Mossbarger 10 petal reed
cage, a few other things, and a fresh engine sealed up and waiting in
a box stored indoors. If it was legal, I'd add a Hebo hydraulic
clutch.
I rode the two bikes of which this one is comprised, from Nov '86 to
late spring of '96. The DR350R was a shock when I got it. Even after
extensive suspension modification and me learning how to ride a
mid-sized 4-stroke "A level fast", I could still travel any terrain
faster on the WR430.

impression comparison note:
Riding the WR430 in the woods was a'kin to streaking through the trees
riding lightly on the back of a panther.
Riding the DR350 felt more like busting through the trees riding on
the back of a swaybacked but beefy pitt bull.
You could go damn fast on either bike, using the correct technique,
but achieved this in totally different methods.

Reggie and I were talking this afternoon; and I showed him part of my
old have a practice trail. We got out the tape measure, and I am now
able to accurately (and truthfully) say that I was regularly jumping
that DR for 54' at this one jump that I made for my (then) young
teenager to be able to clear the big ditch on the side of the private
service road. (I was getting tired of the bent rims.)
I was soon clearing the ditch, the road, the other roadside ditch,
and then flying another 25 feet to land just in time to brake for the
upcoming 90 degree right hander. WaaaaHoooooo!!!!

Also, if the PVV class becomes legal in AHRMA CC racing, I'll also put
the original front end (disk brake) on the '86 IT200. <G>

Until then, the IT200 can handle the tight stuff, and the XC250 can
handle it all. (It's just a lot more exacting in it's operational
demands in the tight stuff; but the harder you push it, the better and
more predictably it responds.)

Good Riding and Best Regards,

Jim
