Amazing. I've always wondered why Ford wouldn't just make a Mustang
that was really a '65 Mustang made to current standards.
Looks like KTM is building a current version of a DT-1. I think it's a
fantastic idea.

I take that back--doesn't look street legal, at least not in the US.
They're not going to make 218 lbs. with street legal exhaust and
emissions systems...not to mention turn signals and mirrors.
Of course, I'm riding Yamaha's current version of the DT-1--a WR250R :)

I want to read more about it. Is it just a detuned 350SX motor? If so,
why?

I liked! I guess it is because a detuned motor will last longer and
require less maintenance. Some folks are not really into rebuilding
engines every season. Since Honda stop building smaller XRs, I can
only remember that 250 Yamaha that is a dual sport that could be used
on trails with little modifications. The bikes nowadays are getting
more and more specialized... The big trail bikes are getting more road
oriented and the off road bikes are getting more racing oriented. Some
folks (like me) can't afford two bikes, but one that could easily
transition between the off road single track and the open road. My
XR250 could easily go between off road and on road by just removing/
replacing mirrors, blinkers and a changing tires. In my view, it was a
wise move from KTM.

Cool, except for the stupid trials tires. Personally, I want an
electric Freeride, or something similar. I can't wait until I can be
"silent but deadly".
