Yeebok,

I'm kind of experiencing the same thing, but it is too cold to go out and
look it my XL600R. It used to be easy peasy to start, but after the last
Spodefest, I hosed the thing down while it was still tied down in the bed of
my truck. It was misbehaving and I found and intermittent ground under the
CDI that was causing the hesitations lwhen I was running down the road
(barely could feel them). But it also then became hard to start after it
was warm or hot. Way more than normal.

I think now I've got it figured out, somehow the California emissions scheme
is causing an over rich condition, there is a vent hose leak at the top of
the primary carburetor, but I think there may be more leaks and maybe a
screwed up purge valve. And I think I might have gotten water into the gas
vapor cannister.

I'm able to start it, but I have to wait until it cools somewhat, like
yours, but mine won't hit at all. Maybe you should adjust the idle screw up
a turn and turn it back down after it warms up. The mechanic at the
dealership did a leakdown test and said it was 50%. Holy cow, it wouldn't
run with that lousy compression, I think he forgot to disable the
compression release. But as soon as global warming shows up, I'm headed
outside to check it out.

I changed my air filter twice, no difference.

Yeah, turn the idle screw up.

Joe
