 Charles asks

Hello Charles

To my knowledge no.  Maybe there are some Florida Dirt/Trail Riders who
remember this incident around 95'-96'.

Michigan Senior KX racer George Canfield.

I have been able to leave this one alone, until now. That is one of
the most ignorant and just plain wrong-headed statements put forth as
an "argument" I have ever seen. The sad thing is I think you meant
that in all earnestness.

Let's see...rec.motorcycles.dirt. That gets translated into a usenet
newsgroup of motorcyclists who enjoy riding dirt bikes in the...dirt.
Virtually ALL of us plan our vacations around going places to ride
dirt bikes off road...including the desert which, thankfully, because
some of our lawmakers actually are (were?) able to think for
themselves, is a legal thing to do in our wonderful country.

Why is that, do you think?

Take all the time you need, please. Ponder the implications.

Sadly too, I wasn't at all surprised when you trotted out that hoary
old chestnut of evil off-roaders destroying nature complete with a
link to a typical eco-utopian nonsense group, full of undocumented
non-scientific claims of horror, destruction and lawlessness. So, time
for a few more questions.

Have you ever visited the Los Padres National Forest? If not, I don't
think we have much more to talk about.

If you have, can you tell me where that photo was taken?
When it was taken?
What the land looked like before off-road vehicles were ridden there?
Is this in a legal area for off-road vehicles?
What precisely is the nature of the "damage" caused by the off-road
activity? (Hint--"destroying my view" doesn't count.)

The web page containing that photograph answers NONE of those
questions, and unless ALL of those questions are dealt with I remain
completely unconvinced of the validity of both your claim and that of
the "Los Padres ForestWatch."

(Imagine, there are actually people out there who [apparently] are
proud to have as their logo an image of a couple of voyeurs...)
