I used to do 40-miles RT on my XR650L from Mountain View to Fremont
and back, until the day I was northbound and saw a Southbound little
purple Suzuki jeep with oversized fat tires (this was the 90's so
color-choice was...sorta girly-ethnic) get into an accident and flip,
somersaulting five times, going from the on-ramp side until landing in
the #1 fast-lane. A lot of screeching tires and *BANG* after *BANG*
after *BANG* of cars hitting each other trying to avoid it.
A friend who worked at Cycle Salvage and headed in the opposite
direction reported that he was held-up in traffic for three hours
following the jam that ensued.
After that I decided that the bike wasn't quite "enough" for the
driving-style employed by typical "Fremont" or South-East-Bay drivers,
and neither was my little pickup truck...
