I have al the maintenance done on my new steed- XL600R, 1987, Oil and
filter, valves, new spark plug and al new oilseals around the engine.
AllI need to do now is get th bitch started. I stomped on it forever
last night until I discoverd that the brand new NGK plug was bad and
had no discernable spark. I put the old plug back into the plug sockt
and zap! I installed it but had little luck outside of a *pop* and
decided to go to bed.
I drove into town this morning and bought some starting fluid and
another plug just for good luck and now have quit making fun of Harley
riders. Off to Oregon in a few days to enjoy the splender of cool air.
I will tow my Toyota truck with two bikes in the back.

my 87 xr600r was a bit funky to start.
turn gas on,
lean over to the left @ 45 deg angle. choke on
tilt backup fluff the kicker until at top dead center then
push it 1 inch past TDC return the kicker all the way
to the top and then give it a full kick thru without
touching the throttle.... (cold start)
hot start same without the choke on
