One of my biggest complaints with the development of e-bikes is that
most (or all) of them are more powered-bicycle than electric
motorcycle. The most popular even come with 19"/16" wheels
fercrissakes. Well, problem solved:
I while back, I was in communication with a guys who was involved in a
e-bike project, converting a CRF250R to e-power. Now, there is a
company and they are pre-selling (50) bikes. I want one so bad I can
taste it, but ~14k is just a bit pricey for me right now, what with
having 2 literally brand-new bikes gathering dust in my garage as we
speak. I'll tell ya though, if I was in the market for a new bike,
I'd get one.

I liked this:
"Powered from your own solar panel if so inclined."
and this made me laugh, because first the site says:
"Electric e-MotoCRF250R Gen2 production conversion kit uses our own
EVD60kw/80HP ***liquid-cooled***"
and then:
"No fluids (other than brakes and shocks)"
<g>
they should hire a better marketing dude to write their website. Makes
me think "what else is inaccurate?"

It's cheaper than a regular gasoline-powered CRF250R here.

I'd say go for it, it's just money, the bank is full of it and itching
to lend some and government is printing it 24/7.
Or, you can sell your brand new bikes and get a newer one. ;)

Tiago,
I think they need more than an adequate translation. I think the deal
breaker is thinking folks will sit around for an hour or two while their
"quick charge" battery gets replenished. Should have used easily
removable batteries.

I think it said you get a couple hours on a MX track (but that the
machine wasn't up to motocross:) and in most cases, that would be enough
for a practice day for most.. I mean, two hours of "on" time for the
motor... Probably not nearly enough for those of you who ride off road.

It's a "R",for MX. Perhaps no good for the "pro", but for me, I can't
ride 2hrs straight on a motocross track.
The other day I was having a few cold beers while watching FIM
Motocross (Italy race) with a couple friends. One is a casual trail
rider, he goes out once or twice a year, max. The other, is a guy who
rides almost every weekend, he raced MX in the past... Well, let's
call the casual rider "Guy A" and the other "Guy B"
Me: I'm not sure, but I think the moto is less than 30 minutes
Guy A: Man, 30 minutes, I could do that, ain't 30 minutes too short?
Guy B: Dude, if I could ride *two* laps at this pace, I would consider
myself in top shape, let alone 30 minutes, you can't ride like that
for 30 minutes in the shape you are!
....
the moto goes on and at about 1 lap to finish, a rider in a green bike
crashes. It look likes his bike weighs 10 tons
....
Guy A: The guy is crashing with no reason!
Me: He's rotten tired.
Guy A (after watching half more lap): Yes, you're right, he looks
tired

-> Quick swap batteries like on older cellphones... That is a neat
idea. Sometime someone will design a electron transfer process that
will recharge a battery as fast as I can pour gasoline today.
