Hey all!!

If anyone has experience riding Prairie City to Georgetown to Forrest
Hill to Mammoth Bar, etc…  can you suggest a good all-around tire?
Thanks!

My experience is that most read only the first line or so of a post.
If you care to read a bit more to help out, THANKS, and here it is:  I
live in Sacramento and ride Prairie City (Hangtown MX), as well as
Georgetown and Forest Hill trails.  I'm from Hawai'I where the Kahuku
dirt is amazing but I don't really know how to determine what is
Hard-pack, intermediate or soft terrain.  Prairie City is a rock
garden ((the Pro track isn't as bad as the rest but at my age (53), I
just fool around on the rest of the premises half the time)).  The
Sierra trails have ROCK in the harder parts but then nice dirt and
some super-fine silt in many places.  So, what the heck???  Is the
majority of this considered "hard-pack"?  Would intermediate tires
"do-it-all" (nothing great but a happy medium).  I "putt-putt"
now-a-days and prefer the best traction in a tire as compared to
longevity.  If you're not from the area would you please suggest tires
you like that grip well even if the wear-factor isn't great.

Thanks all!

the good folks here at rmd ALWAYS read every last line of every post :)

I've settled on an all-around combo of Michelin MS2 rear, MH2 front. I
don't push things too hard (understatement) but I've been happy enough
with that. Baxter doesn't like the MS2 when it's dried out and hard
because it doesn't slide as predictably as his D756 rear. I'm pretty
sure he was using an MS2 front with that 756 as well. I'd give one of
those combo's a shot and see what you think. We ride the same areas,
more or less--I've never ridden Mammoth Bar, but the others yes.

Excellent memory Charles!  I do like the Dunlop 756 rear.  It's an
intermediate tire that works well for me.  I like the Michelin M12 on
the front followed by the Dunlop 756 on the front.  They all wear too
fast, but they work FOR ME.

Except I got Michelin's numbers all screwed up...

I'm using the S12 rear, and like you said the M12 front. Wow, I was
tired last night when I wrote that.
