Since the boy has school holiday again (weren't we just in Arkansas?),
he
decided we should check out Mines and Meadows.

Couple hours from the Ranch, talked a friend into going with us.  On
arrival, got the forms filled out, unloaded and headed off with chilly
but
dry weather.  Quad trails mostly but well maintained ones.  Moist,
good
traction, excellent stuff for Mark and Roger who both are less
experienced.
I was riding the XR600 just for a change.

We were told that there was new single track out there and during our
first
hour or so riding I saw plenty of nice trail crossing the two track
stuff.
It started drizzling about then and Mark wanted a break so we found
a quick way back to the trucks and Roger and I headed out alone.  I
took him
straight to the closest single track which was really nice, lightly
used, fairly
fast winding trail.   It was part two track too, would come to a two
track
and go a few yards or a few hundred yards then back into the woods.

Then I noticed.  There was new ribboned 'trail'  that kept you from
using
the quad stuff when a crossing otherwise went down a two track.  I
jumped
onto the next one and I was the 2nd or 3rd guy on it I think.
Tighter, gnarlier,
less cleared of downed small fall than the rest of the single track.
Roger
was a bit spooked by it but was able to do all of it.  Cool.

It finally started raining more heavily so we headed back to the truck
and
some lunch.  By the time we'd finished eating, it was a steady rain
and
colder so we loaded up and went home.

Not a bad place, we'll go back, hopefully before the quads start
destroying
the single track.

Go fast. Take chances.
