Well, I made my first venture down to the Mojave, CA area to go
riding. My friend and fellow GasGas rider, Josh Golden, has been
trying to get me down to this riding area for a while now. I finally
decided to take him up on his offer and head down for a weekend of
riding. It's a 5 hour drive there from Milpitas, CA. We left at
about 2:30 Friday afternoon from my place.
Now we got some rain that moved through the riding area in the
Thursday-Friday. As we drove through Tahachapi pass, there was snow
on the ground and it's a low pass. What did I have in store for me? I
was hoping for traction.
We made to the hotel without issue and proceeded to check-in, eat some
decent Mexican food and crash out. We woke late to let the morning
chill burn off as we were only 20 minutes from the riding area. I
choked down a banana for breakfast and we were riding by 10:00 AM .
The goal was to have fun and check out this riding area. Traction was
insanely good. Sand washes allowed for you to cark you own personal
berms and then turn into tight gnarly single track. If you want hill
climbs, there are plenty. The place was really fun and I did manage to
get some decent helmet cam foot age from Sundays ride, but we barely
scratched the surface to the available trails.
During our 2 days riding, I saw 2 very large coyotes running down the
trail in front of me for about 200 yards. I saw a broken throttle
cable on Josh's '03 GasGas. He had a spare in the van and my GPS led
him back to me and his bike. I saw an old Bronco flipped on it's side
while out 4-wheeling with 2 others. They were prepared and needed no
assistance. I saw several bombed out vehicles, and lot's of things
that have been shot. One was a pretty new Chevy 4 door truck. Sad!
Anyway, I'll get the video up on you tube ASAP. I finally got the
angle right.
Hope everyone else had a good weekend!

Thanks, Mike!
It is very good to have footage of you and Josh G riding together.
It looked a bit like the sand washes in NM.
