Here are the pics. I'm no mechanic, nor do I play one on TV, but I'm
pretty sure I can file this shit in the "not good" category.  Bike is
an 02 KX125 I got used.  No idea it's history, other than it's got
just about everything aftermarket.

And I was hoping to throw a simple top end kit in it and go riding.
Damnit!

Looks OK to me.  Give the cylinder a quick roughin' and pop in a new
piston.  Good to go.

Don't I wish.  The cylinder actually appears ok, it's just the head
that's FUBAR by looking.  I suppose a shop will be able to tell me if
the cylinder actually is ok, but ill be sort of surprised if it's
not.  No scratching or anything.  As long as it's not somehow ovalized
or otherwise messed up in a way I can't see it might not be too bad.
Don't know if the head can be fixed or if it'll need replacing.
Hoping to get a good word from my local shop.

The thought to just replace the piston/ring and run it did cross my
mind a couple times =)  Every time I look at that head I figure it
might not be such a good idea.

What is it that you're seeing in the head that worries you ?    All I
see in the head images is some carbon buildup.
