I watched Mythbusters last night - they were doing a comparison
between cars and bikes for relative pollution.  At the end, they used
what I'm pretty sure was an  '11 Yamaha WR250F for the best-they-could-
find eco-mobile.  Apparently it has EFI and a catalytic converter?
Anyhow, for combination highway and city driving, it did a respectable
56MPG.  After equipped with a DIY plastic bubble shroud, it acheived
71MPG.  Not bad for a crappy Yamaha.

Sure makes my 14MPG Tundra look bad...

A WR250R.

Has zero parts in common with the F model. It's heavy, softly suspended,
and only makes power when you rev it like a 2 stroke.

Almost no maintenance required. Valve check at 26,000 miles. Makes
enough spare juice to power heated gear, a gps and a coffee maker.

Carries its weight low (kinda like a GasGas :) Feels much lighter to
ride. Leaves neglected big-engined dual sports in the garage by the
dozen.

Not a dirt bike.

Tons of fun.

 Hi!

Second that.

Anja has one (the WR250X, to be precise, which has a large front brake
rotor, supermotard wheels and probably a different suspension setup), and
it makes my KTM look like a piece of crap from a time shortly after hackney
carriages were en voge. Yeah, and it's a turn-key-motorcyle in contrast to
my orange turd which needs to be turned upside down every two weeks to
spill the rotten fuel that has dribbled into the carb bowl.

Not to speak about the occasional coolant or oil leakages. A real men's
toy.

Cheers,

Hey, my Caddy gets 16.4 on the highway!  Best mileage of any car I've

I watched that show.  It made me want to go out and buy the biggest
honking motorcycle I could find just to be able to think about the
unhappiness of the ecofreaks.  I'm not that dumb, of course. My 1970
Dodge pickup does just fine in the smog-generation department.
