Hello,
I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me the difference between a
Honda 2004 xr80 and a 2004 crf80. I been looking around craigslist to
purchase one for my 9 year old son, he`s 4, 10 and very slim. This will be
his first bike. I`m kind of hoping this would be the right size for him...
I`ve been looking at the ad pictures and can not tell the difference between
either bike.
Thanks in advance,
Victor.

Hello Victor,
They are the same bike, it's just that someone is using the old XR
lable on the little CRF. Honda dropped the XR name and started calling
the bikes CRFs like the newer 4 stroke MX bikes.
Good luck,

No such thing as a '04 XR80. '03 was the last year of the XR, newer
model years are called CRFs. I think that the later-year XR80s and
CRF80s are identical from at least '01 through the present.
Incidentally, kind of moot, as it's illegal for you to buy one.

Here, let me pick that nit for you.
It's not illegal to buy one.
It's illegal to *sell* a consumer product intended for children
12 and under if it has more than 600 parts per million of
lead in any accessible part. As of today, there are no
exemptions. If it's a toy as defined by the CPSC,
it can't have accessible lead.
Go fast. Take chances.
