I've been seeded with they idea of doing a 4x trail in my part of the world,
it's ~100 Km and mostly easy but a couple of challenging spots.
There is one short hill on this thing, apparently quite evil. I talked to a
couple of folks who have done it, one says (DR350) hey, take a good run at
it and if you don't make it, try again. The other had some help (KLR650) and
thinks it's a team effort to get past this little bit.
I'm thinking I need a plan B, which might be be mount an ATV winch where the
headlight is...
Never seen this done before on a bike, maybe there's a good reason... but
everything has a first.
The trail...

Hard to say from the video, but I think you should be able to make it
without a winch. Anyway, I'd rather rely on a riding partner for help,
than a winch mounted to the forks.

How many minutes into the video is the hill in question?

If you mean the hill the one guy was pulled up, I don't think that
would be horribly difficult.
The key would be to make sure the bike could go fairly slow (maybe go
down 1 tooth on the front sprocket, maybe 2, or maybe up 3 on the rear
sprocket) and just keep in mind with a bike you have full use of the
entire width of the trail, and can pick lines that do not require
going over the bigger momentum-robbing rocks.
What bike do you have, or are you picking one of the two mentioned?
I'd probably go with the 350, unless it's so old it's as heavy as the
650.
