I bought a used 03 Yamaha TTR225 and just noticed that the exhaust
pipe will glow very dull red to somewhat bright red at the cylinder head
end when at idle and above idle. Is this normal for these engines to do
that? The bike has been sitting for several years and has at most 40
miles on it. I pulled the carb off and removed the jets and blew them
out along with the carb passages and put Techron cleaner in the gas
tank. Other than that the bike runs good and the engine is smooth
running. Thanks.

I would say yes as my 2008 klr does the same thing. I was trying to
figure out some type of ducting system to move air across it and
up to my legs!
