cell phone abusers anonymous step forward...
wife hinted she wants to "upgrade my cell phone"
I have a tendency to be hard on equipment
and the cell phone that I've been carrying is
on it's last leg..(ductape is not doing it anymore)
I would prefer one that can withstand occasional
drops bumps bruises associated with dirt bikes
I have a fold over style so that when it's in my
pocket or pack it doesn't start dialing the last
number called (wouldn't want folks learning
I regularly cuss in foreign languages while
dropping motorcycles over cliffs)
big font for older eyes a must, the current 1/8"
font is a tad tricky for me to read bad light,
camera would be nice
could care less about texting/gps/blogging stuff

I like a camera option (doesn't have to be great), I have adapted to
texting over the last couple of years. It is handy as long as you
don't try to have a conversation with it. Things like, "I'll be there
in 5 minutes", "ride tomorrow?", etc are fine. If you need to have a
long discussion... use the phone as a phone. :) No blogging on a
phone, little to no email on the phone, no news groups or discussion
boards on a phone... nothing that requires more than a few keystrokes
on a phone.

I have an earlier version of this phone. It has lasted almost three
seasons of motocross, seriously. Mine is yellow and looks like a traffic
cone, but it bounces, swims, and never skips a beat...

People laugh at my Nokia flip phone, but it will drive a nail.
And it actually gets a signal.
Last time I "upgraded" I tried a cool and awesome Motorola that was
really cool and awesome. But it didn't get a signal at my home. The
less cool and awesome Nokia gets three bars here. It has crappy ring
tones too.
I ditched my land line a year ago and I miss it. It was handy to help
me find my cell phone.

I had a 1980's Motorola brick (was lighter than
the bag phone dad had..at the time)
I liked the indented keypad (you could dial
with thumb while eyes on the road)
and the fry an egg microwave signal...
I didn't fit well into a pocket.
