During the little riding I did Sunday, I had a good time jumping the
top of this one hill. It's not big air at all. I would have to guess
maybe 3 or 4 ft of air. What happens is that you approach the hill in
3rd or 4th gear. I prefer 4th so that I can hold the speed with out
the rear wheel driving too hard. At the top off the hill are some
rocks that act as a lip. All you have to do is carry enough speed to
clear the top of the hill and preload the bike just before hitting the
lip. It helps to try to whip the bike a little as the track angles
about 30 degrees right, going down the hill toward the next turn. I
would guess you cover only 15 feet in distance to make it smooth.
It's a typical off-road style jump. I would rather jump over stuff
than ride through it if it's safe and/or smoother.

Excuse me, but what Baxter should have written was, "What happens is
that
*I* approach the hill in 3rd or 4th gear."
I approached it in 3rd. Nice and smooth-like in 3rd.

Oh, yeah, mm-hmm...uh...me, too.

Yeah, that's all you have to do. Easy, right?

Yeah, boy; whipping it made it much easier, that's for sure. I always
whip it. Uh-huh.

I didn't realize what jump Mike kept referring to. I'm thinkin', "there
ain't no jump on that stretch, what's he talkin' `bout?"
I...uh...got my front wheel off the ground there, and managed to pull a
few "Wardy's" there (riding down the face on the rear wheel...not
really a wheelie, per se.)

Do it in fourth, sissy.

THIRD !!!! ...FOURTH!!!! with a KICKER!!!! ... and only FIFTEEN FEET!!!! ...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH ... you should be able to blast a 60 footer
off that ... or were you in forth on an old ten speed pedal power..
I'm just sayin.. thats all :) ..
Go find a fairly short , "almost but not quite " ..sheer drop face hill,
about 6 feet high or more... with a flat plateau area on the top.. hit it in
first .. giving yourself some lift off the top [ moving up higher a little
at a time of course ] and see if you can spin the bike around facing the
other way before you land flat on the two wheels ... I guess I should add
while trying not to fall off ..
There was a ledge like this at a buddies riding area.. it was a hoot to play
on .

We don't stop riding because we get old, we get old because we stop riding.
