Man, I really hate the incompetence of the brazilian government (are
you guys reading that? I HATE YOU!).
Every airplane have a log book, where the pilot relate any glitch.
Some glitches should be fixed as soon as possible, like "on take off
engine can only go 55% power before overheating". It's part of
government "overlook" on the airlines to check if the log book is
being a)filled by the pilots and b)addressed by the mechanics. Just
after the plane crash, government said "no problems with the
maintenance of the planes, everything is ok, no reason to ground the
only other plane of the company, everything has been looked into,
every maintenance has been done, everything is fine, really". Well,
took the *press* and an anonymous guy who sent the log book, *full* of
statements of loss of power. 16 people died, one of them daughter of
someone I know, because the regulatory agency (sort of brazilian faa)
isn't doing their job properly. I'm ashamed of my country, every day a
bit more. :( In the past I was in awe when someone with a masters
degree who accepted to wash dishes and flip burgers in Europe and US,
now I feel that it isn't so bad to study over 15 years and end up
flipping burgers in a country that really look over their citizens.

Sadly, we are catching up as the corporations (via the rethugricans
and the demonrats both) are chip away at regulatory oversight.
