snows hit, got me wanting a 4wd
(smaller than the wife's truck)
wrx sti looks fun but pricey
does the base version have
the easy ability to upgrade the
turbo to get "like" performance or
all the other naughty bit upgraded as well
between the models?

I dunno too much about the upgradeability of these, they do seem to
attract the attention of the rice-rocket crowd. I do know that I test
drove one of these last spring...and it's definitely on my lottery
list. They are just plain fun to drive. Excellent handling, just
enough power to get that "feeling." It fit me like it was made for me.

(unfortunately, the insurance costs were too <impractical> for my
needs, thus waiting for the lottery...should be a no-brainer for you :)

hmm I should check with the insurance folks 1st....
haven't had a high speed driving award in a couple
of decades but hey they do like to charge extra for
those wreck-less types.....
I was hoping to buy a cheep model then bolt on a
better turbo and have some fun on a budget... without
torquing off naughty bits of the magnesium/alloys ect...
if the upgrade wrk sti is full of beefed up bits and
there by requiring the lesser model a full fancy pants
upgrade then heck I suppose I should look for a
ricer dude gone broke and capitalize on his woe
and throw some new money at the 1/2 way done
car and make a fun daily driver out of it (sure
beats the POS ferd taurtus I'm driving)

Why do overlook and oversee mean opposite things?

It's simply a matter of how much self control do you have.  I could
not be trusted in a high HP, well handling 4wd car.  I'm bad enough in
my little 200 hp FWD car.  My last set of tires last 16K miles, but
they were sticky.  These new recession tires are about 85% as sticky,
but should last 30K.
