those chips that can make electricity from heat differential....

would it not be "kool" to slap a bunch of them on a dirt bike to power the
lights & other stuff...

Probably the toughest part (other than the small degree of output,
heh) would be keeping the 'cold' side sufficiently cool.

You can get, what, 5-10% efficiency out of something like that?

If they make 'em that can take the temps, lining the exhaust pipe
would give the best performance I'd guess.

5% i think is "current" technology
it could be better since last time i looked.
i was thinking on the radiator & cylinder head might involve less collisions

since average engine only get 1/3 energy to the wheels.. capturing wasted
energy might be fun, then again my mind wanders.

Yup. Because of the thermal resistance of the device, you would have to
add 10x the cooling area on the other side.

this is where i would normally bait by saying it can't be done, but that's
not why i was running this by rmd.. i was looking to bounce some ideas
around regarding inefficiencies inherent in the internal combustion engine
by targeting the wasted heat.. guessing I'll mull it over some more.

now slapping them on a ocean liner would work
