I have a couple pairs Alpinestars Tech5.  Trusty protection and all.
But I'd like to replace them for IDSF'10 with something equally strong
but more comfortable for my wide feet.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a size 12
   not only lengthwise?

I tried to get into the venerable Tech 10 just to compare but failed.
That bootie wouldn't come out and seeing a small teared section I
doubt that concept will work for me. :)

I wouldn't buy any boot (or helmet) without actually trying them on.
Look at the Gaerne and Sidi brands if you can't get the Alpinestars to
fit.

I have duck feet. (Aflaaaaaak!)  I've been needing new boots.

This weekend at BMMP, the owner had a "worn 3 times, never been dirty"
Gaerne SG!0 boots, size 12 for sale for $250. They felt comfortable
and had calves large enough to easily close and cover my legs with my
knee/shin guards inside.  I paid him, and then saved the straps out of
my old Sidi Force SRS boots and asked him to throw them away for me.
(The gorilla glue holding the sole had let go during the ride.)

I wore them for a couple of hours, while walking around and loading to
head home.  They were comfortable, and only barely rubbed the outside
of my big toe on each foot.

Retail for these boots is in the $439 range, but I got Tiago's for
$314 from these folks.

Black size 12.
The black size 13 is also in stock.

See you soon!

So I'll try Gaerne then. There's a shop near Vienna that carries them:

But as scrape said, I'll have to wear them first.

I second the SG10 recommendation.  I have a pair that I bought from
Idaspode - they feel like armored bedroom slippers, and I can actually
close them around my calves.  Not only are they made with huge calf
area, they are also cut fairly wide.  I can't wear Alpinstars - they
are cut too lean for my feet/calves.
