1. Dani Pedrosa [1]
2. Neal Champion
Of course, the second in this list snowboarded back down from near the
top...

Reveille is 1am if you want to join the trudging horde, so leaving at 2am
would be about right.
Although, if your other post on this subject is anything to go by, you
weren't planning to use that route anyway. I suspect you have the Gouter
hut mixed up with the Cosmiques. And a bergschrund mixed up with god
alone knows what.
You sure you ended up in Italy? :-)

Christ, you're right!
We did stay in the Cosmiques for a night of acclimatisation in the
week of prep we did.

Hmmm. As it was explained to me...the route from the Cosmique hut
starts on glacier, and ends on mountain, so you have to cross the
bergstrund. Usually some guides go and bolt a ladder in place as the
'ascent' season starts (late march?) but the year I did it the gap was
bigger enough to drop a bus down, and would have required us to abseil
into the crevasse and ice climb out of the other side.

We paid the heli pilot in lire, if that helps...
