That was a very entertaining race, and I came away very impressed with John
Herrin. Down to the wire against Roger Hayden. Experience wins out... this
time. But Josh Herrin is what, 17 years old? He was riding the hell out of
that Yamaha.

Between GP and AMA SB races where leaders were runaways and the
exciting stuff was all for 3rd place or worse, to see the battle up
front in the SS race between those two was indeed the highlight of
this year's Laguna Seca. Like I said in another post, seeing Hayden
debut in 10th in his inaugural GP was made all the more impressive by
knowing it actually took place AFTER that SS race, despite the TV air
times being reversed. That takes nothing from Herrin, though: that
kid can ride.
