DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 7, 2007) - Officials of the new SunTrust
MOTO-ST Series and Professional Motorsports Productions (PMP) of Canada
jointly announced today that PMP will sanction all SunTrust MOTO-ST races
commencing with the season-opening 500K event at Daytona International
Speedway (DIS) next month.
Contrary to prior announcements that the American Motorcyclist Association
(AMA) was to sanction MOTO-ST, PMP - which owns and operates the Parts
Canada Superbike Championship - will now serve as the governing body after
helping to organize and operate motorcycle racing's newest series since its
introduction early last year. Officials from both PMP and Grand-Am, which
provides the series with administrative and commercial support, were
instrumental in the successful debut event of the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series,
the 8 Hours At Daytona, which was held on the traditional road course at DIS
this past October.
The 2007 season-opener will be the kick-off event of Daytona 200 Week by
Honda and will be run March 3-4. The Daytona event is the first of six races
currently on the SunTrust MOTO-ST schedule with other stops at
Homestead-Miami Speedway, Virginia International Speedway, Iowa Speedway and
Road America before the season-ending 8 Hours At Daytona back at DIS on
October 19-20, 2007.
MOTO-ST is organized and sanctioned by Professional Motorsports Productions
(PMP) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the Grand American Road Racing
Association, based in Daytona Beach, Fla., provides the series with
administrative and commercial support. The MOTO-ST advisory board features
some of the most respected individuals in the world of motorsports,
including AMA Hall of Fame members, respected motorcycle racing journalists
and renowned officials from various forms of road racing. Learn more about

Can you say "Roger Edmondson"? No suprise that the AMA wanted
nothing to do with him and vice-versa.
$100,000 purse too! What's the 200 purse? Certainly less.
I can't seem to find it.
Go fast. Take chances.

Ya'think? Though I imagine he likes them a hell of a lot more than they like
him..

Heh, an outfit that can't afford to staff the pace car can't be expected to
have a real purse, can they? Hey, thanks to Rolex at least ya' can snag a
watch for the best flyer...

My indoor MX riding buddy is an AMA staffer. I don't mention
Roger to him anymore after getting an earful once. And he,
my buddy, barely knew Roger.
I raced against Roger (Cue-tip was on his team!) a long time
ago and raced some of his first AMACCS races. While he
was a tough businessman, I never had a problem with him and
he treated the competitors and everybody I saw him deal
with equally and fairly. IMHO.
Go fast. Take chances.

As far as I know I've never even met the guy, though I know a couple of
dudes that have had business with him and they've never said anything other
than he was a straight up type. Heh, which may be why he didn't last that
long with the AMA.
Anyway, I wonder if someone's gonna make a run at ProRacing, you know those
Moto-St boys definitely have the juice to if they so desire. It would
*interesting* for sure, but I'd rather see AMA just step back and let it go,
though I kinda doubt that's gonna happen...
Btw, if this doesn't smoke him out, he's toast...
