...and he was looking so good. Ran into a 125cc (they were on the
track at the same time??), and now he's got yet again an injury to
deal with.
I like Elias. He's fast and reckless and entertaining. I don't think
he's got much of as methodology to what he does, but he falls into the
category of riders like Hopkins or McCoy or others that provide far
more color and entertainment than the teams seem to ultimately
reward.
I hope he comes back to give 'em young kids a lesson or two...

What's up with that? They really had moto2 and 125 on the
track at the same time?
Maybe they're about the same speed......
Go fast. Take chances.

Seems very odd, I agree.

I think the Moto2 bikes are still a bit off the 250, depending on
condtions and circuit.
Moto2 times from Jerez are here:
http://resources.motogp.com/files/results/tests/2010_Test_Jerez2_Moto2_day3_combined.pdf
And here's the 125 times:

They're pretty close. Of course, the bikes' different characteristics
will mean that almost everywhere on track a 125 and a Moto2 bike will
be travelling at different speeds.
By comparison, a quick google found these times from the 2009 Jerez
test:

I think the Moto2 guys made up some real ground on 250 times at this
test, even though the fastest of them are still off the fastest 250 guys
from last year. Relative to 125, I looked at last year's race fast laps,
and Simon did a 1:47.06, which had him faster than 4 of the 25 250
riders in the 250 race; Smith in 2nd also slots into that spot. But then
the times dropped off by a second, and the guy in 3rd was faster than
only the 25th and last rider in 250, Leonov. Marquez' 125 test best at
46.49 would have tied him for 37th out of 40 in Moto2; Simon's 250 time
would have been faster than only one Moto2 rider in the test. And
Simon's own Moto2 best, 44.45, was more than 2.5 seconds faster than his
125 best.
Leonov was 35th-fastest in the Moto2 test, which might be viewed as
relatively the same (assuming increasing the field by 60% added some
lesser riders). His time in the test was a 46.43, marginally faster than
Marquez' 125 best time. In the 250 race last year his best lap was a
48.42, so he gained 2 seconds. Another comparison is Alex Pons, who was
21st-fastest in 250 in that race with a 46.55, and in the Moto2 test he
did a 45.33, which was 19th. At the front Bautista in 250 did a 43.34
and Corti did a 44.04 in Moto2. In the 250 race there were 9 riders
within a second at the front, and in the Moto2 test there were 16. In
250 there were 16 riders within two seconds, and in the Moto2 test there
were 30.
Anyway, what it seems we have is a tighter field in Moto2 than what we
saw in 250, which is no surprise given all the spec stuff. And while at
the front they have yet to catch the 250 fast guys, they really are no
closer to the 125s at the back either. What they are right now is
compressed somewhere in the middle of the 250 range, and they should
continue to get faster as they get used to these bikes and the bikes get
sorted further.

Whew I thought all the posters had died in this group.
2 races into WSBK, and nothing from anyone.
At least Moto2 got you guys crawling out of your closets.
It's gonna be a good season.
