BTW. Honda have said :-
1) There are no team orders and there won't be. Honda doesn't do that.
2) We can't fix the clutch.
Hayden, Pedrosa, Melandri all have contracts. To some extent it no
longer matters what they do. If Pedrosa or Melandri prevent Hayden from
winning the championship, everyone will just shrug their shoulders and
say "That's racing". Anyway, the best thing either can do to help Hayden
is to beat Rossi, and you can be sure that's what they want to do too.
More interesting is if Rossi's leading and Hayden's third with those two
in between. Will they let Hayden past on the last lap to let him get the
second place he needs?
Then there's Elias and Stoner. Think they'll play ball? Though Stoner
would be a good bet for a ramming attack on Rossi...
Only hours to go now. Can't wait.

Has Honda really said they can't fix the clutch? Or is this another
British-style "Biaggi to MotoGP"-type factual report?

They ride for Honda, so to some extent it ALWAYS matter what they do. If
Melandri wants to get the good stuff he has to make HRC happy, or he
could get frozen out sort of like an Edwards. Hayden is in an equally
tenuous position, even though he's on the factory team, as his Brno
adventure this year clearly shows. Pedrosa, you're probably right, he's
pretty much immune to anything.

You're probably right, no one seemed to even mention Elias' lack of
factory team attitude at Motegi.

That WOULD be interesting, not to mention physically impossible...

Not if they've accepted the "bonus money" from Dorna...

Elias has already shown he won't. Stoner is more likely, I would think.
Though Stoner

The Jason DiSalvo of MotoGP? Best bet would be during qualifying...

Hayden 2nd-quick in P2, Rossi down in 8th, 0.6 off - good sign...

On the subject of this clutch, which some people seem to think is a
mechanism by which Honda will prevent Hayden winning the championship
(no, I don't get it either, but there's some odd folk around) - I
re-watched part of the Brno race the other day, and the clutch was
just dandy there - Hayden was 4th on the grid, and got off the line
really cleanly, running into the first corner in 2nd place.
So why's it such an issue at the end of the season?

Seems it might be either, or. Either it survives a start or two or it
does what it's supposed to during the race. But not both.
