I'm suprised no-one has mentioned this yet.

Is it just BSB that has this variant for the red flag rule, that is, all
riders that aren't racing are excluded?  For sure it seemed to catch
everyone out, me, Burnicle, Whitham, the riders and the managers.

I can sort of understand the ruling - if you have a count back to the
previous lap, but exclude the person at fault, then you get into arguments
over whose fault it was.  With this rule, there's no argument (assuming
everyone knows about it - which they do now).

For this incident, it doesn't seem fair, but who said racing was fair?

Brookes gets a 2 race ban.  Fair or excessive?  He obviously didn't mean
to take anyone out and just ran in a little hot and caught the wrong bump
at the wrong time.

So where's the ban for Richards taking out Lowry at Knockhill?  Or maybe
that doesn't count because it was practice.  Or that Richards is injured,
so he's banned himself anyway.

Brookes seemed apologetic enough when in front of the camera, but didn't
seem interested at the time.  In fact he ran to his bike to see if he
could get going, not up to Andrews to see how he was and aplogise.

I'd like to know what Walker said to him though. :)

Wasn't he on a suspended ban anyway for the Guintoli incident? If so, the
ban seems fair enough.

He was, although as Julian mentions, Honda have subsequently admitted a
brake problem (allegedly).  So it wasn't his fault.  Maybe.

The rules are the same as in WSB. It's been that way for a few years
since people started lying in the track to deliberately get a red flag.
(Chambon at Brands in WSS)

IMHO it should be changed slightly. Go back one lap but exclude anyone
who can't make it back with their bike in 5 minutes after the red flag.
There were people who crashed in that incident and were up and running
again. Shouldn't they be included? But then we don't want people racing
after a red flag to get back to the pits.

Actually I thought that was what the rulebook said already.  I recall a
race recently where people didn't return in time and were therefore denied
the restart.  So maybe it currently only applies for races that will
restart rather than races that are declared.  Mind you, watching so many
races from so many series' it's difficult to keep up.
