I sure hope it turns out that everything's in spec.

I don't see where either article says the crank is suspect.  This is a
routine check, or a which hunt, depending on how you look at it.  One
of the articles mentions, "This is the third time the crank has been
taken out of Mladin's bike this year."  Considering nothing was found
before I wouldn't expect anything to be found this time.

Well, yeah, considering what Mladin said in a very public venue about
DMG earlier this year, the position Harris has been taking toward them,
etc., takes no genius to see why they might go after them at this point,
mere days after they'd thrown the final shovels full of dirt on the SB
class in America. Think about it - they potentially DQ the entire
podium, they  make sure that Mladin can't break Spies SB consecutive win
record (now scheduled to go under at the end of SB#2 at RA), they
potentially hand two wins to Yamaha, and they mess up any possibility of
another SB "winner take all" finale at Laguna, which is a track visibly
at odds with DMG as well, of course.

In other words, the perfect opportunity for DMG to send a message, to
start rat-f*cking people they don't like - a class organization through
and through...

I

Umm, I'm pretty sure most winner's get tore down after a race, don't
they? However, the fact that they took his crank back to the lab might
indicate they feel the need to look at it a little more closely, that's
all.
Now, if they find that Yosh has been creative in their rules
interpretation, that is, they've been cheating, I'd imagine it's gonna
create a sh*tstorm like we haven't seen in quite some time. As far as
sending any message, you bet they are, but that message is the new
Proracing isn't going to tolerate cheating by anyone and in the end
isn't that one of *THE* most important functions a sanctioning body's
is supposed to perform? Obviously you don't think so, but I do...

To the crank? C'mon, Tom.

Yeah, perhaps back there with a microscope they can find some kind of
irregularity...

...or not...

Oh, yeah, I really doubt that Harris will be too shy about venting his
speen on those vindictive bastards...

DAMNED RIGHT!!, and when has anyone associated with the Frances or
NASCAR ever been accused of doing anything that wasn't totally
above-board, or smacked of abusing their monopoly power, or flexing
their muscle to go after someone they don't like or who stepped out of
line? NEVER...

Supposed to perform, absolutely right...

Anyway, a few little gems out there so far this week, first this one on
the brewing MIC series:

...and this nicely-written little post for those whose tastes run toward
pulp fiction, even if it's not exactly fiction...

And finally another '09 announcement from my man Johnny U...

http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article3792

...this one containing the very carefully constructed sentence, "Young,
age 20, is in the middle of a two-year contract with Team Hammer, which
is currently racing as Team M4 EMGO Suzuki." I repeat, "*currently*
racing as Team M4 EMGO Suzuki". Sounds like that may not be the case
much longer - hmm...
