Nice day at the ballpark, warmed up notably and lots of sun, yesterday
was a bit mixed. pretty decent crowd, more than I expected, although
nothing like Laguna circa 2002.
The AMA races have been kind of boring at the front, with May in SSt
repeating what Zemke did in FX yeterday, getting an edge of about two
secondw and holding it. SB was pretty good behind Spies, and Mladin's
rash cost what might have been a good race at the front. But Ben's had
the edge all weekend, seems the suspension issue for Mat continues at
this front-end circuit. No idea about tomorrow, but my guess is that
Ben will still have the edge, Mat won't push quite so hard, and it
won't end up that close.
What might be interesting is if Hacking can get closer. His off-track
made the fight for 2nd much more interesting, alhough he got it
anyway. And Hodgson on the box! Barely...
And it's a loooooong AMA lap. Makes for a different sort of viewing
experience, like they do one lap in the distance and the one up close.
And all at damned good speed, not much slow stuff.
WSB, still not exqctly getting into it. But nothing meaningful yet, a
lot of practice and qualifying that doesn't count for much, then SP
that is as boring as I remember it. Hopefully the racing will be good,
no one really seems to be dominating.
On the DMG front, the expected, no one seems very thrilled. Fraser is
here, and I saw Kevin Erion appealing to him this afternoon. somethin
about keeping SSp. Colin was stone-faced. The best thing was one of
Mat's team duct-taping "Daytona Superbike" on a pit scooter...
