I see Flammini is mouthing off again about WSB and MotoGP working
together to jointly promote the sport rather than fighting. But in the
next breath having a go at MotoGP about what "production" means. And
quoting the WCM  decision.

So it looks like MotoGP2 is going to run head on into the brick wall of
whether a particular engine is production based or not. Like say the
engine from the track day only CBR600RR-SP-HRC that everyone ends up
using.

Using a production based formula is a shot in the dark/foot for the
Dorna - FIM conglomerate. The whole point of making this choice was
because the possibilty of factory withdrawal from the championship. So
what do they do? place themselves to greater exposure to just that
type of risk. If Bimota or Honda pull the plug on this factory venture
then the Motogp2 format would have to be shelved for that year.
Unbelievable. I think they must retreat to earlier concepts like :-
Four stroke max capacity 500cc
Turbo and supercharged four strokes 300cc max
No four stroke cylinder limit
Two stroke 250cc max no cylinder limit
No binding contract for teams to compete at all venues for the season
(this allows individual efforts to race at a number of local continent
meets) thus meaning that private engineering works can build machines
to race at Motogp2 but not have the near impossible burden of 16 world
meetings.

Of course, if any rider fresh from 125's can negotiate this maelstrom
of short contracts and machinery and still win this world championship
then they are surely ideal candidates for success at the blue riband
category.Thats just the sort of person we need! Further more if any of
the small teams were to fold then "it would be a great loss to the
championship" and "their presence would be missed as they added such
atmosphere to the paddock" BUT THE SERIES WILL CONTINUE.
