Just been reading the reports from Philip Island and Sepang.
New Michelin tyres. Especially a new front with a wider footprint.
Check. Front end patter problems. Check. Yup. It's deja vu all over
again, except this time it's Honda having the problems.
I got within 6 feet of the Yamaha M1 at the Excel show in London. What a
beautiful piece of work.
Have you seen the latest pics of the Honda 800? What's that bit of black
plastic pop riveted to the fairing in front of the rider's right foot?
And the same but just slightly more integrated on the other side? It's
weird. It's like Honda have made no attempt to fair in the lower half of
the bodywork and have then added bits of plastic to try and steer the
wind round the riders legs. And then the riders complain about lack of
top end and Haydon complaining about being unable to get in Capirossi's
slipstream.
And then there's Edwards beating last year's pole time at Sepang. Wow.
Already.

This groups seems to have gone really quiet. In any case, even if
nobody has commented, I was interested in reading your opinions on
testing.

Where?
They didn't seem to have chatter problems at Phillip Isl. last week.
Or is there something I don't know?

Nakano: the problem is chatter from the front tyre.
Haydon: My biggest problem was having a hard time with the front and
getting it to steer
Pedrosa: said he still remained to be convinced about Michelin's new 16"
tyre
All from this week's MCN report on PI.
