Quite a few surprises in some respects.

No surprise Stoner is fastest on both sessions BUT only by a whisker
over Lorenzo in both sessions!! In fact in session 2 there are a
gaggle of Mich shod Yamaha's 2nd thru 4th, a Mich shod Honda of
Dovizioso in 5th, Alex DeAngelis's Bstone Honda next and Rossi in 9th
nearly a second off the pace and the slowest Yamaha.
The 2 factory Hondas are really struggling so far been outshone by the
other Hondas

It's looking like a Mich track atm apart from Stoner. The young guns
(or newbies) seem to be adapting very well. I'm assumming Stoner was
on race tyres but wonder if the 3 Yams were on Q's or not? f they
aren't then the race could be close, if they are on Q's and Stoner is
on race tyres then it's bye bye Casey see you on the podium.

I'm picking Stoner to win but hell it's hard to predict any other
positions yet. One would assume Rossi will get sorted but the other
Yams are looking good, (although Edwards will no doubt get his usual 5
forward gears and 1 reverse setup for the race) I'll see how they go
tomorrow before my final 2 rostrum picks.

They weren't. Everyone was doing 5-6 lap runs.

The yamahas were losing 0.1s to 0.5s in the last sector that includes
half the main straight. Toseland has the same problem as Rossi last year
of being 15 klicks slower on top speed.

The lights and running at night thing is weird. They're racing deep into
the night, which means it's cold and potentially there's mist and dew on
the track. And with Europe only 3 hours difference it's not in normal TV
time. Does look good though.

Surely titanium slider screws is illegal? But Stoner seemed to be
running them.

GO BRADLEY! 3 Brits in the top 10 of 125. How did that happen? His
Gingerness is proper fast. Inside the circuit record and well in front
of the field.

He's looked consistently fast so far this year - the earlier tests and the
practices for Qatar showed that. The Polaris team seem to know how to make the
bike
fast - the longevity was certainly a problem for them last year. I hope that's
been
solved. Interesting that there are no Hondas in 125 at all - it's been a long
time
since that's been the case. There are two somewhat factory-supported Hondas in
250 -
JIR Scott's Takahashi and Wilairot but that's it.

It'll be interesting to see if Rossi can adapt to the Bridgestones or if they
have
to do a lot to make the tires work for him.
