why?

because some columnist decided to add a clause to a
sentence that had nothing to do with anything?

that paragraph should have been a fact/quote

Spies says the changes the '07 Suzuki Superbike will see at
the Sepang test are limited, hence he's not going. "I'm going
to stay here, concentrate on my training and be ready for the
Daytona test where we'll have more stuff to test," Spies said '
today upon returning from the Suzuki test at Willow Springs.

seems reasonable - have you ever flown 1.2 around the world & back?
it takes a toll, & if there isn't a good reason I'd skip it too.

The article also notes that
Spies has done the Sepang test in the past.

so It's obvious that if powers insist or Ben sees value in it he
will fly.

so what in the world made Dean Adams add

Spies, a nervous flier under the best of conditions, says.....

it was him fabricating a slant to the story that isn't based
on anything but speculation and innuendo.

Are you sure it has nothing to do with anything?

Sounds like spin to me. And yes, I have. In one instance I flew from the US
to Paris for a week, returned to the US for another week, then flew to
Adelaide, Australia for a month. I used to travel a lot, peaking at being
away from home 280 days one year.

Hayden, I can understand, but if the changes to the '07 machine at Sepang
are limited, why is Mladin going? Wouldn't he also benefit from all the
changes the bikes will have at Daytona?

I'm not so sure about that. He missed the trip once after his tire
failure/bad crash at Daytona in 2003.

So answer the question. Why would Adams fabricate a slant to the story? Is
he a Spies-hater?

I think that if you aren't 100% (Spies originally was going to have surgery
and miss Sepang) and there's nothing new
why bother to go? Flying thousands of miles and putting laps on just to put
laps on is a waste of time. He's got a 2 year deal with Yosh, so he ain't
going MotoGP anytime soon.If the people at Suzuki don't know who he is, then
they aren't earning their salary...
Hayden is going to learn as much as he can about new equipment and crew. I'd
guess that Mladin will end up in Australia afterwards, riding is just a
perk...

I wouldn't be surprised if the budget for the Sepang test exceeds $80k.
Doubtful they would go to the trouble just to fly thousands of miles just to
put on some laps.
