That's not the reason they didn't take the two strokes to California.

It's becaue they figured the yanks wouldn't pay to watch a bunch of
yurpeens they'd never heard off on little bikes that sounded funny, so
when they have the GP they also schedule a round of AMA superbike for
the same weekend.

Road ones used to be subject to some lunatic emission controls, yes,
*if* they were /registered/ there. Then they stopped you registering
them there.

The trick used to be to have a mate in Oregon, and register it there.

I dare say they've closed that loophole now ... oddly, LA is still smog-
bound on bad days, so the plan may not be working.
