And plenty of time to read it, learn it, know it - a whole week before
Daytona practice starts! And they said it couldn't be done...
I haven't read it all yet, but we actually have a points system, and
it's - gasp! - nothing like NASCAR! Well, I'm not certain about that,
never even coming close to understanding that one, but it's actually
just a combination of the old AMA and the FIM systems - points rewarded
down to 20th, basically the FIM system with 5 points added (30 for 1st,
25 for 2nd, 21 for 3rd, etc.), and an extra point for pole and for most
laps led. So it rewards consistency over winning more than the FIM but
less than the AMA did. And nothing about resetting the points two-thirds
of the way through the season...
I still don't see a list of eligible bikes for ASB or any
machine-specific TIFs, of course. But they still have a whole week to
work that out. And we do know where the AMA, Dunlop and Sunoco logos
must appear on all the team shirts! And as of today there are a total of
18 entries listed for Daytona! All classes, that is - there are only two
entries listed for superbike, both on Suzukis, which I guess means at
least the GSX-R is eligible.
Oh, and no smoking in the pits or on the grid - I guess that's targeted
at Peter Doyle and Reggie O'Rourke...
Anyway, for those who dodged making any serious, detailed public
appraisal of DMG and their handling of this series for the last year
"because we haven't even seen a rulebook yet", that skirt is finally no
longer available to hide behind...

Ahh, somehow misplaced a whole month there - these guys actually have
five weeks to straighten everything out! Slam dunk, that is...

IIRC DMG's points system is pretty close to what you said the old AMA needed..

A week? My calender says about 5..

NO ONE needs to be smoking in the pits, and especially in public view
out on the grid. Heh, I seem to recall yer boi Abrams taking a pot shot
at the ST crews for that very reason, so now when DMG prohibits smoking
in writing you claim it's vindictive? You're a piece of work!

The 2nd paragraph of your verbose post (that contains absolutely
nothing of substance) states that you haven't read the rules yet, but
you expect others to comment? WTF is up with that?
Dude, you should possibly consider accepting things you can not and
never will change, deal with it, or move on...

Two questions:
1) What is it you recall me saying, specifically?
2) Your comment, like almost all others, seems to imply some level of
criticism of what I said about it. So what is it I said that's
critical of what DMG did here on the points system?
You know, other than taking ten months to come up with this...

Yeah, my error, which I already said last night. BUT, the Daytona
entry form states the deadline for entries is THIS FRIDAY, as in the
day after tomorrow. And still only 18 total entries right now...

See, that was a joke, son, as in DMG targeting Mat's crew with
trivialities like this. What, has all this DMG madness over the last
ten months cost you your sense of humor? Understandable...

Actually it did contain some things of substance. But you didn't
notice, because your brain, or what's left of it, is conditioned to
filter out anything critical of Daytona, France, NASCAR, etc. Denial,
it's called...
But now that you have an actual rulebook to read, do let us know what
you think of the Grand NASBike Experiment. Finally. At long last. I'm
waiting. And maybe I'll check in with Johnny U. on this as well...

So why didn't they just use the FIM system like everyone else? points
down to 30th with only 18 entrants seems a bit pointless.
