Was a great Bowie track, but that's not important now.

"With AMA rules stating a rider must be 16 years old to compete, these
young riders still have a ways to go before they hit the big time"

I'm puzzled by the assumption in that sentence that the only way these
riders can progress from the Red Bull Rookie series is via the AMA.
Surely
1 Red Bull Rookies
2 Spanish 125 Championship
3 125GP
4 ????
5 Profit!
Is a more likely scenario?

Name all the Americans who have gone from the Red Bull Rookie series to
AMA and then to GP.

You've got to be really committed to go to Europe on the chance to make it
big.
And even then, it's a major disadvantage to be an American. You don't have
the connections. Every round is a fly-a-way
The only reason you are there is Red Bull. Win the series and you will get a
move up.
Finish second or third and you'll go home.
The Spanish kid who won Assen is already hooked up with Puig. Think he'll go
home if he ends up in the top five?

It's been a standard route into international racing for Australian &
Kiwi riders since the days of Graham Crosby.  Stoner cut his teeth
club racing in the UK (I have friends who've raced against him).
