i find it amazing that a company w/ the resources of honda would not
effectively address the aero package before they start testing. they
have a wind-tunnel, they can get a set of nicky's leathers and stuff a
dummy into it. so do it and freakin' test it BEFORE you start testing.

Nah, they can just pop rivet and duct tape a few more bits of black
plastic on the bike. Perhaps an old visor duct taped to the windscreen.

I was curious, where did you see pictures of the Honda? I noticed in earlier
shots they did seem a little sparse on bodywork. Lots of engine sidecover
hanging
out...

I don't quite recall where I read it, but some mag actually claimed none of
the MotoGP bikes seem overly optimized when it comes to aerodynamics these
days. They point at the fact several riders raise their asses high up in the
air on long straights because it gives them a speed-boost. The only riders I
have seen do that are Rossi and Edwards, though.
Perhaps the prevailing thinking on the 900s was that there was too much
power on tap, and development focused on managing it via electronics. With
the 800s and peakier power delivery, the equation seems to have changed.

I remember reading that the Honda AMA superbike team (DuHamel at
least) has done a couple wind tunnel tests with the rider. DuHamel
went
to Japan to do it. I find it hard to believe that the MotoGP teams
haven't
done someting similar.
Go fast. Take chances.
